How Cut Down Containers Are Made A cut down container starts life as a standard ISO container that is precision-cut to a shorter length. Typically a 40ft container is divided into four 10ft units, then re-fabricated with new rear panels and corner posts so the shortened box stays square, strong, and secure. Because we control the cutting process, we can also cut down containers to meet almost any custom length requirement, so if 10ft is not quite right, we can build to your exact dimensions. What to check before you order
- Ceiling height — a clear-floor lift needs room for the overhead beam, a baseplate lift does not
- Concrete thickness and cure: four inches of 3,000 psi concrete is the usual minimum
- Symmetric or asymmetric columns — asymmetric rotates the car back so the doors clear the posts
